Shortlived happiness
The residents of Hospital Block, Sector-8, were very happy when the construction work on their much neglected park (tubewell no.6) started. But the joy was short-lived. Soon after the construction of walkways and gate, the work stopped abruptly.
Now, the condition of the park is even worse. The material used for pathways is still lying on the ground. To aggravate the problem there is a tubewell through which water leak. This stagnated water has now become a breeding ground for mosquitoes.
"There is no cleanliness. Due to lack of boundary on one side, stray dogs and cattle manage to enter the park. The park littered with their excreta. There is only one swing which is also broken," says Vinod Vig a lecturer with PGT College, Faridabad and resident of House No.1031. The problem does not end here. The seating arrangements in the park are also inadequate. There is only one bench in the whole park. Senior residents who visit the park along with their grandchildren have no corner to sit and chat. The safety of the park is also questionable. "There are no lights here and one street light in the corner of the park is inadequate to light the whole area," says Deepika Sharma, a student of Jamia University and resident of House No.1062. Women fear going into the park as dusk approaches, says another resident. MCF''s apathy was revealed when Faridabad Plus spoke to Jai Bhawan Gahlawat, president of the Resident Welfare Association, Hospital Block.
According to him, “Work relating to laying of pavements was not an initiative of MCF. The work was started by the efforts of RWA and support was extended by local MP Ram Chandra Banda.
RWA has repeatedly taken up the matter with the MCF. It has issued various letters concerning the problems of park but no action has so far been taken on its repeated submissions. Will the MCF take heed to this area’s plight?
